Dr. Pratap Chokka
CEO, Psychiatrist

Ten years ago, Dr. Chokka formed the Chokka Centre For Integrative Health with a central purpose to help his patients achieve better functioning and quality of life. He has had the privilege of bringing together like minded clinicians with unique experiences, expertise and insight, under the umbrella of an integrated, multi-faceted approach for the treatment of the whole person.

Dr. Chokka continues to approach his patients by challenging them to learn, grow, adapt and face struggles head on, in order to what he hopes will help his patients live a life of purpose, satisfaction and meaning. Dr. Chokka considers it the ultimate privilege to do what he does by helping his patients BECOME.

Dr. Yang Liu
Chief Scientist

Dr. Yang Liu is the chief scientist at Become Health, and a research scientist at the Department of Psychiatry, University of Alberta. Dr. Liu has over 30 peer-reviewed publications and with expertise in computational psychiatry and personalized medicine, and leveraging cross-linked administrative health records, electronic medical records, multimodal patient data, and machine learning to improve patient experience and clinical outcomes.

At Become Health, Dr. Liu developed the first prototype of the EarlyDetect software and continues to work on evidence-based approaches to address mental health challenges.

Kirsten Yakimowich
Manager

With over 17 years of experience in healthcare, Kirsten plays a critical role in the development of the collaborative treatment approaches at the Chokka Center and Become Health. She works with the team to make positive impacts on the mental health treatment of the centre's patients.

Chris Tse
Director, Business Development and Stakeholder Relations

Chris Tse is a kinesiologist who contributes as CBC radio's fitness columnist and an educator, while also excelling in marketing for brands like Campers Village and Sport Chek. His knack for simplifying fitness concepts and mastering digital platforms has earned acclaim.

Luke Butterworth
Business Advisor

Luke is a serial entrepreneur that thrives on innovating in markets that excite him, including automated supply chains, autonomous vehicles, health and food tech. As an EMBA graduate from the U of A, and Next36/AI alumni there is nothing Luke enjoys more than entrepreneurship.

Software Developer

Davinderjit Kaur is the software developer at Become Health. She holds a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Alberta. Her expertise extends to mental health initiatives like the EarlyDetect project, showcasing her versatile skills in applying technology to real-world problems. Davinderjit stands out as a dedicated professional, making significant contributions to both academia and practical applications in her field.

Dr. Jonathan Hamill
Psychiatrist

Dr. Jonathan Hamill is a general adult psychiatrist who specially trained at the University of Alberta. His two areas of interests are adult ADHD and psychotherapy. His approach is to thoroughly inform his patients about the evidence-based psychological and medication treatment options for any of their mental health concerns.

Dr. Alisha Sabourin
Registered Psychologist

Dr. Alisha Sabourin’s philosophy and approach to therapy is action-oriented, collaborative, and authentic. She is skillfully trained to work with people experiencing grief, loss, and trauma (PTSD/C-PTSD). She uses integrative therapeutic modalities including The Grief Recovery Method and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Dr. David Sinclair
Registered Psychologist

Dr. David Sinclair brings over 20 years of experience from hospital to private practice in every session. His approach is of a “hard head” (science-based) and “soft heart” (caring, compassionate, and non-judgemental). He focuses on a wide range of psychological treatments and mental health issues.

Dr. Ghalib Ahmed
Family Physician

Since 1998, Dr. Ghalib Ahmed has been a practicing family physician. He has been dedicated to treating patients with addictions and mental health. He specializes in adult mental health including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). He is also an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Alberta and the departments of Family Medicine and Psychiatry.
